[This is a copy of the article posted on comp.windows.x acouple days ago.] ######################################################################### ################# W e s t C o a s t ################# ################# U U C P X 1 1 A r c h i v e ################# ################# U p d a t e ################# ######################################################################### 19-Feb-90 The /usrX/contrib tree has been augmented since announcing the X11 archive last week. zok!/usrX/contrib is now up to date (more or less) with the /contrib directory tree on expo.lcs.mit.edu (18.30.0.212). In particular, X11R4 contrib fixes are available in /usrX/contrib/R4fixes. Also, official fix #2 from MIT is available in /usrX/pub/R4/fixes/fix-2. Please obtain a new ls-lR.Z listing file if you're interested. A common problem has been specifying an incorrect pathname/filename when downloading a file. -- The "/usrX/ls-lR.Z" file is simply the output of a "ls -lR" command, so ALL PATHNAMES/FILENAMES SHOULD BE OBTAINED FROM THIS FILE. -- The "/usrX/comp.sources.x/INDEX" is a subject index of the comp.sources.x files. The actual files are compressed, so they almost always have a ".Z" suffix. Also, each volume is in a separate subdirectory. (The ".Z" and the subdirectory are not listed in the INDEX file.) -- Here are some examples, ("\" are csh escapes): uucp zok\!/usrX/ls-lR.Z \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/pub/R4/fixes/fix-2 \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/pub/R4/tape-1/tape-1.01 \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/contrib/xldim103.tar.Z \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/contrib/XView/olgx-1.Z \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/contrib/R4fixes/winterp/patch-0 \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/comp.sources.x/INDEX \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/comp.sources.x/v00/v00INF1.Z \!~ uucp zok\!/usrX/comp.sources.x/v05/v05i064.Z \!~ If you have any questions and/or problems feel free to email. Note that after you've added zok to your Systems or L.sys file, you can send email *directly* to me using the uucp bang notation: zok!mark (Don't forget a "\" escape on the "!" if using csh.) If you email directly, be sure to include a return path since replies will have to be routed through established uucp connections. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The remainder of this article is a copy of the original X11 archive announcement from last week, (i.e. skip the rest of this if you've already seen it, nothing new). 14-Feb-90 The X archive on Zok contains the full X11R4 distribution, the XTEST distribution, an *entire* archive of comp.sources.x, along with many other X11 goodies. Zok has a TB+ modem which will connect to 19.2K, 2400, 1200 baud (in that order). The anonymous UUCP account is UXarch with password of Xgoodies. The modem's phone number is 408-996-8285. A sample Systems (or L.sys) entry might be: zok Any ACU 19200 4089968285 in:--in: UXarch word: Xgoodies To get a current listing of the files that are available, download the file "/usrX/ls-lR.Z". A full subject index of the comp.sources.x files is available in the file "/usrX/comp.sources.x/INDEX". When downloading files with uucp, wildcards (i.e. "*") won't work. Be sure to specify the full pathname starting with "/usrX/". For example, uucp zok\!/usrX/ls-lR.Z \!~ (The above "\"'s are csh escapes, ignore them if you're using sh.) Currently this modem line is Zok's only email and news connection to the outside world. Should you wish to fetch large distributions, such as X11R4, it would be appreciated if you would pause every now and then so that normal UUCP traffic may continue. Thanks. -- Mark Mark W.
