[ Followups have been directed to alt.sources.d ] - Tcsh 5.19 is (of course) related to the work of Paul Placeway, i.e. it is based on version 5.18; however due to lack of time on his part, Christos Zoulas has taken over the maintenance of tcsh, with, I gather, Paul Placeway's blessing. Thus, 5.19 is currently the "official" (if tcsh ever is:-) version, and apparently the first odd-numbered such. - Christos modestly neglected to mention the most far-reaching, and perhaps at least to us in these parts of the world most important, change from 5.18: 5.19 is "8-bit clean". - Tut.cis.ohio-state.edu does have (many) 5.12 and (a few) 5.18 binaries, however this is neither news nor, IMHO, terribly interesting. - Tesla.ee.cornell.edu currently has these 5.19 binaries: -rw-r--r-- 1 christos 118609 Sep 25 08:46 tcsh.3b15-svr2.1.1.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 christos 241951 Sep 26 05:24 tcsh.decstation-ultrix3.1.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 christos 127963 Sep 24 13:50 tcsh.rs6000-aix3.1.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 christos 120491 Sep 25 08:56 tcsh.sun3-sunos4.0.3.Z -rw-r--r-- 1 christos 135769 Sep 26 11:13 tcsh.sun4-sunos4.1.Z and, as announced by Johan Widen in <1990Sep25.134020.14303@sics.se>, sics.se has some more (IMHO (again) it would be nice if they were all available from tesla, where the "source" is). --Per Hedeland per@erix.ericsson.se or per%erix.ericsson.se@uunet.uu.net or ...uunet!erix.ericsson.se!per

As the previous (1 of a team) sys admin for tesla and E.E. at Cornell... and the person who used to regularly beg Christos to free up some disk space... The disk space on tesla is incredibly tight, Christos is being very generous in having some of his quota used to make available what sources he can. Believe me, he had to don his asbestos suit more than once when disk wars would break out and we would come gunning for his megs. In most academic departments disk space is a precious commodity, my thanks to all the people who allow it to be used to supply the sources to the rest of us. -beth elias sys admin eng. college, YouVeeAay

Does anyone have the binary of tcsh 5.19 available for Vax running Ultrix 3.x? aem -- aem@mthvax.cs.miami.edu ....................................................... ...the overwhelming majority of news stories are based on official sources - information provided by members of Congress, presidential aides, and politicians. - Walter Karp
