Judging from a question or two that I've gotten, let me clear up one possibly misleading point about the AT&T LAN (the Wide-band Premise Network). The bus is less than a meter long and is basicly the backplane that the interface boards plug into. I suspect that it is, in fact, less than 19 inches long so that it will fit comfortably in a 19 inch rack. Overall, the LAN looks like a star configuration, but except for the central clock and address translator, there is no single point of failure. Of course, those aren't minor exceptions.... -- skip addison {emory, akgua, allegra, rlgvax}!gatech!skip
