[net.lan] info wanted: T1 interface to Vax

I am seeking information on communications interfaces for a
network of Vax 780's and 750's.

The Microelectronics Center of North Carolina (MCNC) is
implementing a microwave network linking MCNC with several
North Carolina universities. The network covers a range of
about 150 miles. Originally driven by the need for video
and audio transmission, several T1 channels will be available
for data communications.

Current plans call for multiplexing the T1 channels into 56kbs
(and lower) subchannels. The 56kbs channel will be interfaced
to the Vax using DMR's. The lower speed channels will be

connected using various high-speed/low-speed modems.

We would eventually like to utilize transmission rates higher
than 56kbs, up to a full T1 (1.544mbps). What devices exist
that can interface a T1 to the Vax? I am aware of the NSC
Hyperchannel, which does have a Vax interface. Are there any
other devices available that can handle transmission rates
up to T1 speeds?

I would appreciate any information. Thanks in advance.
