Article-I.D.: duke.15606 Posted: Fri Sep 15 15:31:25 1989 Sender: news@duke.cs.duke.edu Lines: 9 Because this note is not about Kate, I'll keep it brief. Since many of you are well-versed in obscure (to the US) music, I hoped that someone could give me some information about a song I recently heard and liked. The singer was from Mali; the name of the artist *sounded like* Mori Cantay, and the name of the song quite improbably *sounded like* "Beach Allah." If anyone can give me accurate spellings and/or even better, information on where I could get a tape of same, please drop me a line. Regards, and thanks, Paul Dolber (dolber@cs.duke.edu).

Really-From: munnari!ditmela.oz.au!Brian.May@uunet.UU.NET His name is Mori Kante - retty close to your spelling. Don't know what label he's on, but try looking for british imports for 'Something Inside So Strong' which he had a hit in the UK with 1 or 2 years ago Brian May (brian@ditmela.oz).

Really-From: Nigel Cliffe <nigel@hfnet.british-telecom.co.uk> Not sure about your spelling, however, see if you can get a copy of a UK radio series called "Now that is what I call Mali". It is a documentary about a trip to Mali to find Mory Cante (sp?), and Ali [ something I can't spell like Faqu-turi ]. It was made by the BBC about 10 months ago, and has been broadcast here on Radio 4 at least twice. Unfortunately I never bothered to tape it. Try contacting the "Duty Office" of the BBC in London, to see if they can help, either with a copy of the program, or with album numbers so you can get the records.
