Omninet is a product of CORVUS company. Corvus used to be in hard disk business. Because their hard disks are expensive, so they designed a local network based on twisted-pair to allow APPLE, IBM PC and other popular PCs to be connected together to share the hard disk. It was so successful so now they are in local area network business. The network is called OMNINET. AT&T contracted CORVUS to develop the board and possibly software to allow 3B computers to connect into the OMNINET. Most local area networks for PCs are homogeneous, i.e., supports only one type of computers. OMNINET is one of two lans that support heterogeneous computers. The other is PLAN 4000 from NESTAR. S.
