For all you IBM-types out there, there is a program that should play the type of file Mark has sampled on your IBM or compatable. The program is called remac and is available at all the more popular ibm ftp sites (ie. SIMTEL, wuarchive.wustl.edu (/mirror/msdos/voice/remac.zip), grape, etc.) It is truly an excellent program for those who have grown tired of the simple sounds typically heard through the typical IBM/clone speaker. It is small ( <10K including doc file) and easy to use. It should support any file commonly found with a .snd extention (for a selection of these files, check terminator.ee.umich.edu in the atari/sound or ibm/sound directory). There is also a large selection of these files at sumex-aim.stanford.edu, but they are in the condition Mark describes above(stuff-ited, binhexed) and can be a bit difficult to undo without a mac by your side and a way to transfer files between your IBM and mac. Therefore, Mark, if you would simply uuencode it and mail it out, it might make many, many IBM using KaTe fans happy. BTW, I have the facility to digitize sound on my IBM via an add-in board. With a little manipulation, I should be able to get my samples to .snd format and (hopefully) make them available. That is another story altogether. It's kinda fun to have KaTe's laugh (from LaA/tF) go off when my fingers type 'idr' instead of 'dir' as my fingers are sometimes prone to do. 8-) TTFN, bob

Personally, I use the laugh from the beginning of "The Fog" for my beep.
