~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The IEEE 802 Committee assigns the publicly administered "type field" codes. The proper name for the field is Link Service Access Point, LSAP. Specific LSAP codes are assigned as pointers to well known, publicly administered network layer protocols. To date, the ISO 8473 Connectionless Internet protocol has been assigned the code 01111111 and the IP of TCP/IP has been assigned 01100000.
