[rec.music.gaffa] Box set to be featured tomorrow on KITS

I just called up Mark Hamilton, a KITS DJ, to tell him the news from
the convention. Here's how our conversation went:

Me: I've spoken to you a number of times, and you've given me
the impression that you're at least somewhat of a Kate Bush fan.
Mark: Oh, I am! As a matter of fact, I'm going to be featuring the new
box set tomorrow [Tuesday, Nov. 26] on the UK Cafe [his 12 noon
       show].
Me: Really? That's wonderful! I'll be sure to listen!
Mark: Yeah, I'll be plying a couple of tracks from the non-LP CDs. I
think I'll play the live version of "James and the Cold Gun"; I'm
not sure what else I'll play. I'm a little disappointed with the
liner notes, though. I wish we could have gotten more information
about the source of these extra items.
Me: Yeah, that's what a lot of people have been saying. Anyway, here's
why I called. [I told him about the incredible convention news.]
Mark: That's fantastic! I'll be sure to mention this tomorrow!

Hmmm, one would wonder if Ms. Bush would be happy about the leakage to
the press. No doubt she considered this before the convention, but I
would think that she would be more comfortable with the info in the
hands of a respectful fan, instead of a hungry newshound.
          Peace,

Well, Kate didn't tell us that she wanted us to keep this secret.
She said she wanted us to be the first to know! I don't think it
should be kept secret. Consider all the fans who aren't love-hounds
and who didn't go to the convention. Shouldn't they hear about this
wonderful news? Anyway, Mark Hamilton *is* a Kate fan, as he's
demonstrated to me several times. He was the first American I know
to see the video for "The Sensual World".

True. I just noted that she didn't tell you that it was an official
press release, either. It seemed from the descriptions I heard that
she was either in the process of making up her mind, or working out
the details. In either case, I think if I was an artist I might tell
my friends that I was considering a tour, but not the press directly
so they didn't force decisions or details from me. I have not doubt
about Mr. Hamilton's fandom, I just hope he presents it as nebulously
as Kate presented it to you so this doesn't snowball out of her
control.
          Peace,

The news was in the UK music press last week, where they got it from I
don't know, but it would seem to be a bit quick for the grapevine
effect. I think it was melody maker I read it in, but I can't
remember. So maybe there was actually a low key press release?

When I was in London last week, I read much of what Kate told us at the
Konvention in a small insert to the Tower Record News. The interview was entitled something like "The First 15 years". I'm pretty sure she mentioned the intention to tour in there, too, although this is from memory.
