[rec.music.gaffa] Kate on video

T.Atwell@discg1.UUCP (12/14/89)

Request information in gaffa regarding availability of Kate videos
(other than TWS, which I have). I am particularly interested in the
Hammersmith Ogden(sp.) concert video which has been mentioned in the group.
I live in Phila., Pa., so any mail order info would be appreciated. Kate is
rarely played on radio in the area despite my pleas to all stations.

I thought the Kate special on VH-1 was very good. Thanks for the info re:
date and time. Much appreciated.

This is my first posting. Will not be the last.

I've just acquired a VCR, and I'm looking to start my video collection
with some of Her Kateness' videos. I went to the local music/video
emporium and found The Whole Story and (the video collection from TSW)
for US$19.95 each, and snapped them up. I also found a Japanese import
cassette of The Singles File for US$69.95. Is this a good price? It seems
like a lot of money for only about 50 minutes of video, even if it is
Kate video. Is this the tape that's unavailable as a domestic release?
I know there's a Live at the Hammersmith Odeon tape as well, and I'm
keeping my eyes open for it. Anything else I should know about? Any
good video outlets in Connecticut or the Boston area?

	Thanks,

Someone else mentioned a Japanese copy of _The Single File_ that they
had purchased recently which sounded like a bootleg. I purchased
copy of it ($40) about six months ago mail order from "The Video Depot"
or some such now defunct place. It appeared to American in origin but
in spite of the wishful thinking of many Love-Hounds and a note in
Homeground, I'm almost certain that it's a bootleg.

If I recall correctly the videos on _TSF_ that are not on _The Whole
Story_ are, _Rolling the Ball_, _Wow_ (original), _Hammer Horror_,
_Suspended in Gaffa_ and _There Goes a Tenner_ (have I forgotten
any?). I guess the question is if you're willing to pay $70 for those
videos. You should probably shop around some more in any case.

The good news is that the _Kate Bush, Live at the Hammersmith Odeon_
is supposed to be reissued even as we speak. The live video is
definately a _must have_ for all Kate fans. The price is either $20
or $30, I forget.

Good luck!

I never intended to imply that there was never a legitimate Japanese
release but someone here recently mentioned that they Japanese import
version that they received looked supiciously like a bootleg. Is the
legitimate release still available?

Uuuugh, how could I have said such a thing? I guess it's this
reoccuring nightmare I've been having of two Japanese women singing
_Them Heavy People_ in lounge singer style. Just when I think it's
coming to an end, Kate charges in and does a dance routine as the
lounge band plays on. What could it all mean? ;-)

Oh, and while they did manage to name _THP_ correctly, the video is
mis-titled _The SingleS File_.
