[net.lan] Fusion -Software without Support

fderavi@cybavax.UUCP (F. Deravi) (02/07/85)

{+ != -}

We have two Codata microcomputers connected by ethernet. These run
Fusion Release 2.0; by Network Research Corporation.

Fusion provides a number of utilities : send,recv,rlogin,...
And also a "Fusion Programmer's library". These are library routines
for implementing process-to-process communication (using sockets and XNS
protocols).

The Problems:
		- the utilities hang up every now and then. For example
in the middle of an rlogin the connection is lost and
zombie processes can not be removed.

		- the documentation on the library routines is poor. There
are no example programmes. We would like to rewrite the
utilities but the information is not there.

		- we only have pre release-2.0 include files.

		- when we complain to our supplier in this country, they
say that a new release with proper documentation is
forthcoming. They have been saying that for a long time.

We would be interested to hear from other users of Fusion. In
particular the following would be of interest:

		- experience in writing programmes using Fusion libraries
		- new/better documentation for Fusion stuff
		- UUCP or real address of NRC.
		- Information on release 3 of Fusion
 		- experience in interfacing Fusion and UUCP

Please reply by mail.
