[rec.music.gaffa] Cocteau Twins

mendel@CS.UIUC.EDU (Michael Mendelson) (01/25/90)

Could somebody post a "guide" to the Cocteau Twins: Discography and
recommendations? I have heard Treasure and I particularly like Ivo
and Pandora. What's the rest like? Also, regarding Treasure, it would
seem that each song is a named after Greek goddess. Is this reflected in
the lyrics as well (it's mighty hard to tell). Thanks for your guidance.

For those of you interested in the Cocteau Twins, here is the definitive
discography of UK and US releases from one of their biggest fans. Also
I am starting a fan club for those who have been mesmerised by Liz Fraser's
incredibly beautiful voice. Currently in the planning
stages are a newsletter, featuring the Cocteaus primarily, but also other 4.A.D
bands. Please write back with any ideas or suggestions you may have.
I can be reached at nelson@ucla.astro.edu or nelson@uclastro.

Hope you find this interesting/useful!
May your dewdrops be ever pearly...

gobbel@cogsci.edi (Randy Gobbel) (04/08/91)

I just discovered the Cocteau Twins about a week ago, and am now endeavoring
to get my hands on as much of their music as possible. I now have _Heaven Or
Las Vegas_, _Victorialand_, _Tiny Dynamine/Echoes In A Shallow Bay_, _Blue
Bell Knoll_, and _Garlands_. I would love a complete discography,
information on availability, and capsule reviews (their music has evolved
considerably over the years), if anyone out there has that sort of thing.
Thanks.

Didn't the Cocteau Twins sign with Geffen? I know they are trying to get off
4AD...

Another question that comes to mind is whether the albums on 4AD will ever
be released in the US. I don't get real thrilled about forking out ~$20
for an imported Cocteau Twins album, although they are worth it, and in a
few months I'll probably break down and buy the ones I don't already have.

There is a great 4AD anthology disk called "Lonely Is An Eyesore."
It has a discography of the bands on the disk. Included are:
	Cocteau Twins
	Dead Can Dance
	Colourbox
	This Mortal Coil

(and several others. I don't have the disk with me now.)

Find it. Buy it. Put it on eternal repeat.
