He joined The The after The Smiths broke up. He plays on their
last album Mind Bomb, which I considered the best album of 1989
until TSW came out.

Jan. 1990.  I found it refreshing that the first cover story of the
'90s was on Marr rather than the latest metal wunderkind.  In it he
details alot of the effects/tunings/etc. he used with the Smiths and
talks about his more recent work with the The.  A great article.
