I have the GIFs that Ron Hill scanned from his London KonvenTion snapshots on The Big Sky BBS (614-864-1198) if anyone is interested. I plan to upload them to the archives so if you have FTP you should be able to get them from there soon. The question is how to store them. Right now they're in one 300k ARC format file. As long as everyone has access to an ARC program I think this is a good way to go. It keeps the files all in one bundle so that they can be easily FTPed or downloaded. If anyone has problems with ARC format or if you'd like to download some of them from the board but 300k downloads at 12/2400 baud make you nervous let me know, I'm open to suggestions. I'm also picking up some more GIFs from Ken SaintJohn for the board. His latest is a great scan of the pic of Kate with ivy in her hair (as seen on the cover of the "Dreamtime" bootleg and The Secret History...). Hopefully those will make it into the archives at some point also. "Don't drive too slowly." Richard Caldwell AT&T Network Systems att!cbnews!nrc nrc@cbnews.att.com

This is how all of the others at alaska are archived. I don't think I have access to a de-ARC-er...you won't get much (if any) compression on gifs anyway. As to clutter, maybe you could add a Kon-prefix or Bill could make a new directory. Actually I don't think that either of these is necessary because it is quite easy to figure out which gifs to ftp - from looking at the dates. Anyway, I think you should avoid the ARC route (it's an IBM format isn't it?) because then you will have people like me who won't be able to view the long awaited gifs, leading to more nagging like "can someone convert the ARCived gifs for me..." nuf said mike -- Michael Graham | "The only thing I know about backmasking is that graham@ug.cs.dal.ca | when you play your records backwards it f*cks mgraham@ac.dal.ca | your stylus" - Bruce Dick*i*nson
