Well, le'see. Didn't I hear that "The Infant Kiss" was inspired by
the film _The Innocents_ which was based on Henry James' _The Turn of
the Screw_? Or am I completely confused?

"Hammer Horror," while having nothing to do with the plot of Hugo's
novel, certainly borrows a little imagery (and a wretchedly funny
pun) from _The Hunchback of Notre Dame_.

Anybody got others to add?

Count me as a KaTe fan who's read the book. Of course, I didn't read it
until after it'd been one of my favorite songs for a year or so. On
the other hand, I read it as a direct result of loving the song so much
(and at the insistence of an SO who knew how I felt about the song and
knew I'd love the book).

I do have another friend who's not a KaTe fan, but loves the song because
_Wuthering Heights_ is one of her favorite books.

Jeff

I have been noticing the large number of Kate's songs that are based on books.

Get Out of My House - _The Shining_
Cloudbusting - _The Book of Dreams_
Wuthering Heights - (the obvious)
The Sensual World - James Joyce (I've forgotten the exact book)

Are there others? Has anyone made a Kate reading list?

I find it interesting that of 4 fans asked none of them had read Wuthering
Heights but all of them loved the song.

I for one read Wuthering Heights well before I heard the song...in fact
it was a catalyst to finally hear the song. It's a brilliant book, I
think I've read it four or five times now, pick it up every so often
and then listen to the song. For all those Love-Hounds who haven't
read, it's a must to get a real picture of the power of the song.

My observation is that plenty of people have read Wuthering Heights,
but nobody likes it.

(I recognize it as a great, powerful work of literature, but I can't exactly
say that I "like" it myself.)
