[rec.music.gaffa] It's a conspiracy!

"Look! Jeff Burka's about to enter the record store! Better put on a
CD by a band he's heard of but never heard, featuring cool female vocals!"

This time it was Hex, who I've heard mentioned on .gaffa (of course).

The album is _Vast Halos_.

Ethereal, in a fairly completely sort of intelligble way, with neat
arrangements, and so on and so forth. Anybody know much about them (other
than the fact that Steve Kilbey (The Church) plays/produces, and Donnette
Thayer is from Game Theory (speaking of which, what was Game Theory like?))?

Oh well. Off to bed.

Jeff

wot i know is that Hex has two albums out now...one on the now defunct
Enigma/Restless label and a newer one out on Elektra i believe (not
positive). the sound that Hex produces is more akin to Kilbey's
solo stuff than Game Theory which is in the same catagory as groups
like Let's Active, Wire Train, Translator and early Three O'Clock. to
be honest, i wasn't that much impressed with the first Hex album. musically,
it's not bad, it's just that it's nothing very new or exciting and
it didn't really grab me. that's just a matter of personal taste though.
