We are looking into a network configuration of having a bunch of IBM-PC's (or compatibles) on an ethernet with some berkeley unix systems. (VAX, Suns, Pyramids). We would like to be able to be sitting at the PC's and access all the typical capabilities provided by TCP/IP and berkeley. (rlogin, rsh, rexec, telnet ... etc). We would also like to write software for the PC's which could make use of connect, accept, listen and all the rest of the network system calls. We have a berkeley system acting as a server for a particular piece of hardware we make and would like to interface its' capabilities into the PC network. Does anyone know who makes hardware/software to support ethernet, TCP/IP and the higher level protocols for the IBM-PC market ? I know 3-COM makes an ethernet board, but don't know of any software for it. I am primarily interested in MS-DOS support, but would be interested in what other operating systems support for PC's there is. Thanx in advance for the info. bob -- ========================================================== Be Company: HHB-Softron 1000 Wyckoff Ave. Mahwah NJ 07430 201-848-8000 UUCP address: {ihnp4,decvax,allegra}!philabs!hhb!bob
