[rec.music.gaffa] KaTe on Laserdisk???

jtc@motcad.portal.COM (J.T. Conklin) (06/06/91)

I went to Laser Faire last night to pick last of my Prisoner disks which
had just come in, and noticed on the list of upcoming releases that
the Whole Story was due out shortly. Are any other pieces of Kate's work,
especially Hammersmith, out on Laserdisk?

Thanks,

It's good to hear more confirmation of the news that TWS will be coming
out on laserdisk here soon. _The Sensual World -- The Videos_ is out
on an 8 inch laserdisk, but I have the feeling that it's now
out-of-print. I know of only one store that has any left. (Anybody
know for sure?) TWS, _Live at Hammersmith_ and _The Single File_
have all been available as Japanese imports for a long time, but as yet
none have been released in the US on laserdisc.

This isn't exactly true. Hammersmith is still available as a Japanese import, but the
others aren't. I've been trying for a year now to order them from several laser stores
in San Francisco, to no avail. These stores directly order from Japan, but everytime
I've placed an order it has come back "unavailable at this time." That also goes for
"The Hair of the Hound" another Japanese laser disk you forgot to mention with the above.
I've even gone so far as to offer the store owners my firstborn if he can get the disks
for me.. even that didn't work!!

I will be able to get some new gifs up to alaska in the next few days, they
are ok I guess I think there are 4 or 5 all together.

What ever happened to the Cathy gifs that I so desperately want to see?
And the ones from TWW booklet?

anyway - expect new gifs in 2 days if things go well

Well, all I can say is that all of these disks, including THotH, WERE available at one
time, because Andy Marvick (among others) has them all!

Yeah.. tell me about it. The disks are even listed in the Japanese LD catalogs.
Even so, you can't get them now. Believe me, I've been trying for over a year!!

Ooops, forgot to post a note. They've been up there for a few days
now. All of Ken Saint John's scans - well, almost all :-) - are now
up in the archives in the gif.saintjohn directory. This includes the
original KBUSH??.GIF files and now 14 scans from _This Woman's Work_
(TWW??.GIF) and six multipic scans from the _Cathy_ book (CATHY??.GIF).

Say thanks to Ken, folks.
