It seems that I've forgot the date of Katemas. Isn't it coming up soon?

This is silly, people. Here were are, all sitting on the East
Coast (a big place, to be sure) wondering about Katemas. Let's
start discussing locations! Now, personally, I'm in favor of
D.C. which has the advantage of three large airports, easy access,
centrally located on the East Coast, and being 15 minutes from
College Park, MD, where I am. We could even have it here. But
let's start talking locations!
Also, I recently saw two KT albums; one, The Kick Inside as a picture
disk, for $75; the other, a 7 inch of (I think) The Big Sky (actually,
I don't remember; that just seems right.) for, again, $75. The store
owner went over and over how exotic and rare this 7" was, and how it
was REALLY worth the price, but I was safe, since I didn't HAVE $75
to spend. However, can anyone tell me if they've seen these anywhere,
and what has been paid for them? Many thanks.

We had a pretty good turn out in Santa Cruz (much better & Tracy's apartment
would've been overwhelmed). 9-1/2 hours (for me at least) of videos,
interviews, music, & discussion (& a singing of Happy Birthday). A round of
thanks to our gracious host, Tracy. A splendid time was guaranteed for all.
Even if we did go a bit off the deep end in the interpretation of Kate's
vidoes. Tongues were planted firmly in cheek.

A belated Happy Katemas to all who were unable to attend one of the 3
advertised parties across the nation.

Now, time to hurry up and wait for _The Sensual World_. Hopefully we'll see
some imported stuff around the time of the initial release.

The purpose of this message is just to thank Joe Turner for being a
gracious host for The Fourth Annual Boston Love-Hounds Katemas Party.
The turnout was much smaller this year than in previous years -- only
eight die-hard fans attended, but everyone (or at least me) had a
great time nonetheless. We watched some rare Kate Bush videos that
just arrived in the mail. No one knows where they came from, or what
the legal status of them is, but we asked no questions. Of particular
interest were the unedited Night Flight interview (by a bunch of real
bozos, about an hour of Canadian TV interviews, and "Experiment IV" as
performed on the Wogan show. Also, thanks to Jon Drukman, we lost
ourselves in the visual psychedelia of the Severed Heads.

Then Jon Drukman and Joe Turner performed a stunning rendition of
"Running Up That Hill" as it might have been performed by The
Residents. Larry DeLuca did a moving performance of "Under The Ivy"
alone at the piano.

We then all went out (minus Larry, who had to leave) to The Hard Rock
Cafe to celebrate Katemas with a bit of food. On return, we
temporarily joined the California celebration via the miracle of
modern telecomunication systems. Later, at home, I also temporarily
joined the Washington celebration.

All in all, at the three simulataneous Katemas celebrations, we
must have had the best Katemas show of support yet.

July will be magic again,

Ok, everybody enjoy yourselves!
Please spare a thought for me as I plod through my double-shift at work
on KaTemas day! I'll be working from 10am to midnight and I won't have
access to any KT in all that time (That's the worst bit!)
Maybe you could all have a minute's silence or something ... to remember
those less fortunate than yourselves who won't be able to make it to a
party. I know I'm not the only one - Hi Stephen.

At least I've got the con. to look forward to, although I'm still not
convinced that this isn't some sort of horrible joke being played upon
us teccys by the non-teccys at Homeground Towers. (Please forgive the
gross over-generalisations.)
So, how many of you will be able to make it to the con.? I'm looking
forward to putting faces and voices on all these characters who share my
madness! Can somebody who was at the 85 con. please let us know what to
expect? Was it a weekend, day-time, evening? Does any swapping take
place? Entry fee? Did KaTe mingle with the crowd at all to let them get
autographs? I'm working through the archives at the moment but I've got
a funny feeling that they start too late for the con. or maybe I'll get
to them very soon. I've just started you see, having ftp'd all the gifs.

Boxed set of CD's ? I already have TKI and LH on CD but with this boxed
set coming out I guess I'll really have to think about buying a CD
player. I can't keep on using my friend's one forever.

This is the most important day of the year so enjoy it!

Maybe somebody will be taking photographs of their party and they could get
me a spare set to let me know what I missed? I'll cover all costs of course.
Please E-mail me if you can help ...

This Love-Hound does regret not being able to attend some of the
parties in various (distant) parts of the country.
- But I did spend Katemas in a musical and festive manner. Besides
listening to as many Kate Bush songs as I could, I went down to the
riverside yesterday evening to listen to some Irish folk music performed
by the Irish Breakfast Band. Don't go looking for the album in any store,
the band hasn't recorded one.
All this got me thinking... there must be a recording of the Ballad of
Lizzie Wan seet to music. I wonder what it sounds like.

So.... Anyone out there know of a recording (other than Kate's) of Lizzie
Wan? Or even My Lagan Love for that matter?

Maitland...

P.S.
Those of you who think I only post when I want something... you've
got another peice of evidence. Just be glad I don't post whenever I
want to Flame-Broil someone at random.
Those of you who feel I never offer information in return... well, I've
got my BZZ CD back - who was it that asked for the track list? Really,
I just forgot who asked for it in the meantime. Hope it's not too late.

For "My Lagan Love," take a listen at the _Irish Heartbeat_ album--a
collaboration 'twixt Van Morrison and the Chieftains.

Yeah, well, now it's my turn. Anybody have an idea of what I should
pay for the 12" single of HoL? The track listing I saw was: a)HoL (alternate
mix) (think that's how it was described); b1) Jig of Life; b2) The Handsome
Cabin Boy.

I've found a copy of the record, and I'll probably buy it anyway, but I may
wait and look for a cheaper price.

Any takers?

Jeff

I've heard rumblings about a west coast KaTemas celebration. Could someone add
me to the list, and send me info about it? (I'll be in Orange County -- don't
laugh) Also, I'd be interested in meeting any fellow love-hounds out there.

I'm also interested in dates/places/errata concerning any KaTemas
celebrations. I'd also like to be added to any KaTemas "lists". Thanks in

Larry Hernandez has told me that the date for the San Jose
Katemas party has pretty much been set: Saturday, July 27.
If anyone has any objections to this date let us know *now*.

I'm sure Larry will give the details as far as time and address
later.

It would be nice to coordinate with other Katemas parties around
the country, or even around the world. So for all you other
Katemas party planners, see if this date is good.

ARGH!!!!! That the day of Price Club inventory!!!! I originally had that day
off but had to give it up cause they re-scheduled inventory. I thought it
wouldn't be any problem but I guess it is!!! I have the 29 to the 4rth of
August off, so one week later, the third, would be better for me!!! Of course
if the other date is better for most people, that will have to do!! Of course
I should point out that if I cannot come then the up-to-date versions of my
various projects might not be there, but don't let that influence you!!! :-)
The KFNX interview recently posted is interesting cause it seems to be
from the same source as the REACHING OUT interview that was from the
Reaching out magazine and reprinted in The Garden and, presumably, posted
here. The interesting thing is that post versions include different quotes
at various places! If anyone has more info please post!
Still looking for any info on San Diego Katemas parties or rare
interviews!!!
        Also someone asked why
oops "Walk Straight Down The Middle" is on the CD This Woman's Work. Vickie
and/or I asked the Homeground people and they said that they had to be the
same, due to mastering purposes - I don't think that really explains it, but
its what they said!

hey all! our gateway VAX took an unscheduled vacation to garbage-land,
and my mail has been bouncing around for days -- and i lost four days
worth of .gaffa!  apologies to those who had trouble mailing me;
everything _should_ be better now...

an update on the new england KaTemas party: (apologies to those
living in distance parts -- i don't know how to set the distribution
when mailing to the gaffa poster... not that that would help the mailing
list anyway...)

i have gotten the following "count me in" replies:

	Craig M. Kanarick
	Bob Krovetz
	Cindy Loiselle
	woj
	Paul Leclerc
	Mark Semich
	|>oug Alan
	Ken Descoteaux
	David Lubkin
	Dan Riley
	Ted Beatie

plus a few "maybes":

	Dan Schaeffer
Ryan McGuire (message from Feb. 4; Ryan, any chance you'll make it?)
Phong Co (Phong, a reply is finally on its way...)

and one "sorry but i'll be in Greece":

Angelos (BTW, now my mail to *you* is bouncing!)

the venue will be my house in Belmont (unless there is a sudden surge in
interest...) woj confirms that there will be a door prize of the
"If You Could See Me Fly" CD (thanks woj!), and i think i can come up
with a few more things...

y'all are welcome to bring friends, as long as they know what they're
getting into...

again, the date is Saturday, July 27th. my phone number is (617) 489-5127.
