[rec.music.gaffa] more samples

jeffy@lewhoosh.umd.EDU (06/27/91)

I had a request for some samples of the braying at the end of GOoMH, so I
went ahead and did a couple, which I've put on the Archives in the file
pub/love-hounds/kb/ktmule.arc They're the usual 8-bit linear samples, and
the two in the archive are both sampled at 31kHz. mule3.31 is the very first
bray after KaTe says, "I change into the Mule" and mule1.31 is the second
bray (yeah, yeah, I know, I need to work on my naming conventions...:-)

It's probably just my imagination, but "mule3.31", when played back at only
10kHz, sounds like a male voice saying, "I am the mule." (well, okay, it's
more like, "I ahm the moooo" but hey, it's still pretty funny to hear)

As usual, if anybody has a request for an interesting (but short) KaTe sample
let me know and I'll try to oblige.

Jeff

Is there any way possible to play these on a mac?

Did you upload the "Yeah!" at the end of L&A?

Michael Graham asks:
>Is there any way possible to play these on a mac?

With a bit of fiddling, they should play...you'll need to use ResEdit to tell
the 'puter that it's a sound file. Sorry, but I don't remember the stuff
you have to tell it...

>Did you upload the "Yeah!" at the end of L&A?

There should be a sample or two of that in kb/pix/gif/ktsample.arc at varying
speeds. Once again, sorry 'bout the ARC format, but I still think it's
best that way 'til there's a directory for just sounds (Bill?)...

I've had some questions about playing these samples on a PC; I've heard
that there's a program for the PC that'll do it...I'll try to dig it up
on one of the PC anonymous FTP sites. If I find it, I'll post a message
about where you can FTP your very own copy!
