[comp.unix.cray] Task Scheduling on the X-MP

sushil@omena.cps.msu.edu (Sushil Bhattacharjee) (03/05/91)

Hi,
here is another (naive?) question on the X-MP.
Tasks can be forked off using the TSKSTART call in user programs. What
happens when the program attempts to fork more tasks than processors
available, i.e., when there is a resource conflict. Does the COS decide
the best course of action? or does it warn the user about the problem?
This question may also be related to the portability of programs from
X-MP of 1 configuration to another.
Please mail me your responses directly to me at sushil@pixel.cps.msu.edu
Thanks,
Sushil
