On our local net we have the next different machines sharing one Ethernet cable: VaxA Interlan Ethernet controller (NP1010) with np10 transceiver VaxB 3-Com controller and transceiver VaxC DEUNA controller H-4000 transceiver SUN170 SUN disk server, 3-Com controller and transceiver SUN120 Diskless workstation, 3-Com controller and transceiver SUN50 Diskless workstation, SUN controller and 3-Com transveiver The vaxes run 4.2BSD, and the sun's SUN 4.2BSD release 1.3 The Sun's boot via the net, it is possible to do rlogins from all the vaxes to each other, from the sun's with each others, from the sun's to the vaxes, and from the vaxes to the sun's, with one exeption: It is not possible to do an rlogin from VaxC to the SUN50 or the other way around. If we replace the DEUNA and H4000 with a spare Interlan controller, it is possible rlogin with the SUN50. So to me it doesn't look like a software problem. This is the question: Why can the SUN50 not cope with the DEUNA? Has anybody a similar experience with this and maybe a possible fix? Send your remarks by mail to me (mcvax!jaap) and I'll summarize to the net. Jaap Akkerhuis, mcvax!jaap
