Hi, I apologise if I am doing anything wrong but I have never posted to news before and reading some of the flames has not encouraged me. My question concerns the logging package included with ISODE, which creates its log files with 0666 access. I can see why this is necessary but am told that unix has its own logging system. According to the ISODE manual there is even an option to use this facility when it is available. This has at least two unhappy consequences. Firstly, utilities which create globally writable files is something my system manager strongly objects to. Secondly, and what worried me more was the inclusion of my password in a globally readable file when I used 'trace on' from FTAM. Just now I can alter the 'logger.c' file, I hope without dire consequences. When the system is available for general usage such a fix will not work. I wondered if this will be handled in a later release or am I missing something? I would be pleased to hear any useful comment. -- James -- James Barr Phone +31 20 592 5104 NIKHEF-H, Postbus 41882 Internet a38@nikhefh.nikhef.nl, 1009 DB Amsterdam, Netherlands --
