[comp.protocols.iso.dev-environ] FTAM to use RTSE or CCR ?

CHAIBP@NUSDISCS.BITNET (07/06/90)

Both RTSE and CCR are meant for reliable transfer but
as far as FTAM is concerned, DIS 8571 mentioned only
about mapping FTAM service primitives into CCR service
primitives - never into RTSE service primitives, seemingly
promoting the use of CCR. Though the use of any other
service elements as a means for reliable file transfer
is not prevented by the standard but any such attempt
would certainly be not inline with what ISO is promoting
(i.e. use of CCR) would invariably mean lower
interoperability. In other words, there is no apparent
advantage for doing that. But ISODE has chosen to use
RTSE instead of CCR. Is there any special reasons ?
