[comp.protocols.iso.dev-environ] Running ISODE without Async Services - over X.25

omahony@swift.cs.tcd.ie (02/22/91)

I am attempting to run ISODE 6.0 over "DEC X.25 Access for Ultrix". I have
managed to get imisc to run on outgoing calls, but when I tried to get
FTAM and QUIPU running, I find I have a problem.

What I think is happening is that both DISH and the FTAM initiator are
using an asynchronous service where (at the transport level) handlers are
registered to cope with either data arriving, or the connection being
closed remotely. This mechanism relies on a SIGNAL (I believe it is SIGEMT).

The DEC software does not support SIGNALS for events on the X.25
connection. My questions is: Is there any way to run these applications,
and ISODE generally without using asynchronous services - or do I have to
invent some horrible hack to circumvent this? Any advice on this would
be most welcome.
