[gnu.emacs.gnews] Is Gnews 2.1 alive?

felix@AI.SRI.COM (Francois Felix INGRAND) (09/01/89)

From my point of view, Gnews is still the best tool to read News
(although you need a fast machine...)

I am still using 2.0 which has small bugs, and I was wondering if 2.1
will ever be released.

Is Matthew Wiener still working on Gnews? or is Gnews an orphan software?

I'm still around, relearning my own code. Hopefully I'll recover my
2.1-in-progress work; it's currently inaccessible.

The main improvement, I recall, was buffering of long articles. In
the meantime, I'll see if I can integrate mail with Gnews. My time
is tight for now--I don't think we'll see 2.1 until December.

(And a special thanks to Mark Nagel for getting me an account with
lots of disk space.)
