I forgot about the following in posting my last set of bash bugs:

   8)	If your prompt contains newlines (or probably other non
	printing characters I suspose), and you edit a previous
	command line, the display is messed up, when readline attempts
	to redraw the prompt, preceeding it with a '*'.  To show this
	behavior, you need to have a terminal with reverse wrap on.
