I can't find more appropriate newsgroups, please no flames. I have a piano that I am considering restoring. I also have some questions. 1) Is it very difficult to learn to tune your own piano? 2) This piano is 80-100 years old. It is a Jacob Brothers piano. Is it worth the money to have it professionally restored. 3) It is a beautiful mahogony vener. It is messed up in spots. Is it hard to replace veneers? Do musical instruments need any particular finish/finishing techniques? 4) The label on the front of the piano is damaged. Does anyone know any leads to replacing it? 5) Does Jacob Brothers (NY) still exist? 6) Will I have to replace the strings? (I doubt that this has ever been done. 7) This was a player piano. Someone took the "player" out. Does anyone have a lead on where to get these parts. Any approximate costs? Thanks bunches! -- Lori Frear EMAIL ihnp4!ihnp1!frear Generic Disclaimer--Bell Labs may SNAIL AT&T Bell Labs own my inventions, but these IH 1b223 opinions belong to me.
