[gnu.bash.bug] BASH bugs?

anantha%ravi@Sun.COM (Anantha Srirama) (08/08/89)

Info:

	Version:	1.02
	Hardware:	Sun3/60
	OS: SunOS-4.0.3

Description of the problem:

	1. I use a newline embedded in the prompt line and this seems to fool
the BASH. For example if I have 40 character in the prompt string
(counting the newline character) and I have 4 characters in the
string after the newline then BASH starts scrolling after I input
39 characters instead of 75! (80 characters wide tty)

I used KSH before and it seems to handle this situation properly.

	   This bug is repeatable.

	2. I use the reverse video (standout mode) for my prompt. When I come
out of a interactive search of history by hitting <ESC> key the
command line is garbled. This is not so when I use a prompt line
	   without reverse video.

	   This bug is repeatable.

	3. When BASH starts scrolling the prompt string scrolls off along with
the command line. KSH always displays the prompt string, fully,
scrolling off only the command line.

	   This bug is repeatable.

BASH, I love it!!
