I'm having a very minor, but annoying problem using bash under Sun's shelltool (SunOS 4.0.1, Sun 3/60, bash 1.03, Sun's cc). If I've been doing a lot of work outside of my "bashtool", and bash gets swapped out (ps -ux on the Sun shows it as IW), then when I go back into it and start banging on the keyboard, the first character I type is lost. If I type fast enough, sometimes the *third* character is lost, too. Usually, if I type my first character and wait for it to appear, it will, and all is OK. But if I just type a command quickly, there's a pause and I hear the disks going while it's swapped back in, and my command is echoed back minus the first character. Obviously, there are a couple of workarounds for this (like, don't type so fast, or, use C-A to put the first character back in), but it's not behavior I've seen from Sun's own csh when running under a shelltool. I haven't used Sun's sh enough to know if there is any problem with it. Other than this minor gripe, I really enjoy bash. I think I'd be lost without it and GNU Emacs. Thanks for your work. -- David Myers (513) 865-1343 Mead Data Central This Data Fabrication Technology P.O. Box 933 space mead!dem@uccba.uc.edu Dayton, Ohio 45401 available. ...!uccba!mead!dem
