   I thought that bash supported the '#!/bin/foobar' construct, but
   apparently not.

   Will this happen in the next version?

The Unix system call "exec" handles that, not Bash.  This is the way is
it supposed to be.  What is the bug that you are having, which machine
and OS, and perhaps the top 4 lines of the file that is causing the
problem.
