i've done this with apparent success for a '300 running 6.5, and have
sent patches to brian. the same code _almost_ works :-) on an 835
running what uname tells me is release `A.B3.10' (i thought it was
6.5), but there's still some problem that i think is in wait/2.
we haven't got 7.0 yet, please let this list know if anyone has done
the port, or i'll do it when we get it.
i'll send my patches to jan by private email.
