I am interested in hardware compatibility issues pertaining to LAN transceivers. It's my impression that almost any transceiver out there is compatible on the coax side, but the transceiver to DTE interface is a different story. Other than the obvious fact that Ethernet 1 is not compatible with IEEE 802.3, there seems to be a lot of ancedotal data floating around as to what works (or doesn't work) with what. I am interested in collecting and compiling these experiences. If you are working with LAN hardware and have some of this empirical knowledge I would appreciate it if you would share it with me.
