I'd only recommend it to a minute proportion of parents: those with a college education and a VERY high tolerance for sophomoric sociologese. There is no excuse for that level of gobbledegook. There may well be some useful information there, but I was so repelled by the style that I never got further than skimming it. I don't remember this being as much of a problem with "Our Bodies, Ourselves", but I bet that only sells to middle-class women too. ps: it is impossible to post directly to this newsgroup from the UK; ukc.ac.uk bounces messages saying there is no such user as "soc- feminism". Is there a simple fix for this? [As I understand this, you need an up-to-date version of rn which understands moderation and you need up-to-date moderator lists. In the case of this newsgroup, the correct address to mail an article to is feminism@ncar.ucar.edu which will randomly send it to one of the moderators. Speak to your local system administrators and find out why postings are not automatically mailed to that address and whether or not they can fix that. -MHN] -- Jack Campin Computing Science Department, Glasgow University, 17 Lilybank Gardens, Glasgow G12 8QQ, Scotland 041 339 8855 x6044 work 041 556 1878 home JANET: jack@cs.glasgow.ac.uk BANG!net: via mcvax and ukc FAX: 041 330 4913 INTERNET: via nsfnet-relay.ac.uk BITNET: via UKACRL UUCP: jack@glasgow.uucp
