[net.lan] Broadband Newsgroup?

katzman@harvard.ARPA (Cynthia Katzman) (09/18/85)

Anyone interested in starting a news group for Broadband Co-axial
Cable Plants? Things like design issues, security, status monitoring,
various applications, new or even standard products for data, voice,
and video? Also, vendor specific problems and questions with Sytek,
Ungermann Bass, DEC ethernet over broadband, IBM PCnet, 3M's network,
and anything else that runs over a Broadband Local Area Network. Maybe
we can even interest vendors in announcing new products specifically
appropriate for this group.

Let me know!

I suggest you discuss broadband in this group until there is a
sufficient amount of traffic to justify a new newsgroup.

Since the state-of-the-art in network protocols and transports is a moving
target, an the main goal of lans is to bring it all together, most
users interested in broadband would be interested in net.lan, and
vica versa.

A net.broadband, like the one proposed by Cynthia Katzman, would just create
a need to subscribe and support another newsgroup. Let's hope this one
doesn't even make it to a vote.
