[sub.sys.st] Mercury UUCP posted without me knowing anything about

rodney@merkur.gtc.de (Rodney Volz) (09/23/90)

                                     Stuttgart (FRG), September 22. 1990

                           S T A T E M E N T
                          -------------------

Some days ago my Software, called "Mercury UUCP modules" or "Rodney's
UUCP modules" was posted to comp.binaries.atari.st by an aquaintance of
mine; ripley@opal.cs.tu-berlin.de - Hans Ch. Eckert (Berlin, Germany).

Mr. Eckert has posted my software WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE. Some days ago
he asked me to write an english documentation for Mercury UUCP without
telling me, what he was about to do. I sent mail to him, saying that I
would send a copy of Mercury UUCP with an english documentation to
Adrian Ashley (Edmonton, Canada) so he could post it to
comp.binaries.atari.st.

IN SPITE OF THIS Mr. Eckert has posted an old and buggy version of
my software, without asking me if I would agree or not; even without
telling me at all. -

I cannot imagine what this guy was thinking of, when he did this. I
want to observe that Mercury UUCP is NOT FREEWARE but Shareware; Mr.
Eckert has posted it WITHOUT MY PERMISSION.

So: Sorry, if there should still be severe errors in the stuff. Don't
blame me, but nevertheless feel free to ring me up if there should be
problems.

                          ----------------

A complete distribution of "Rodney's UUCP modules Version 1.16" is
available via Ano. FTP at the following host:

rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de (129.69.1.12)

I suggest you use version 1.16, or alternatively wait for the next
posting. I shall post binaries and the source of the stuff at X-mas.

For which I have to apologize.

IN SPITE OF THIS Mr. Eckert has posted an old and buggy version of
   my software
As of today it is the newest version available. (see below)

So: Sorry, if there should still be severe errors in the stuff. Don't

   problems.
Sure, it is not completly bugfree, but which software is ?

A complete distribution of "Rodney's UUCP modules Version 1.16" is
available via Ano. FTP at the following host:

   rusmv1.rus.uni-stuttgart.de (129.69.1.12)
The only version of the software I could find there is V 1.14 !!
(I just looked there again - nowhere I could find another version
of Rodney's software)
The one I posted is V 1.15 !

I suggest you use version 1.16, or alternatively wait for the next
posting. I shall post binaries and the source of the stuff at X-mas.
Fine. Please tell me exactly where the newer version on rusmv1 is and
I'll fetch it. Those who can't ftp would not be able to use that
version anyway...

So I suggest the following: If you can't wait until Xmas, don't blame
Rodney for the bugs he didn't fix at V 1.15...
I will prepare a bug-list and (when I got it) a comparison between
1.15 and 1.16 !

Anyway, I'm sorry for not asking Rodney before and apologize for this.

Greetings,
