We recently purchased three Intergraph Clipper Workstations with a CD-ROM, disk, but no backup device. We have many system management questions concerning these machines. 1. We do not seem to have fully functional Berkeley networking services. We appear to be able to rlogin out of an Intergraph but not into one. The inetd.config file seems a little lean here and we are not sure how to turn this on. 2. Exactly how are remote file restorations done? We can tar to a remote tape (using a file server 'rmt' process), but it is difficult to restore these files directly to the Intergraph's disk. Exactly how is this supposed to work? 3. While we like the fact that NQS is available, we would much prefer the use of IETF remote printing for printing purposes. Is there Postscript Plotting support? (Has anyone used Intergraph's NQS to setup remote CRAY batch queues?) 4. The HP LaserJet III series of laser printers now use PCL5 as its page control language and this contains HPGL2 as a subset. Are there printcap or interface entries available for these LJ III printers? How about hooks into IPLOT? What about using the versatec to IBM centronix adapters? 5. "sendmail" came configured for UUCP but not for DDN connectivity. Could someone post a fully configured sendmail.cf? 6. We are a "csh" or "tcsh" shop. Can anyone point me to a working version of "tcsh" for the Clipper architecture? 7. Is there a repository of GNU utilities for Clipper? Specifically, we use gcc, g++, gnumake, gnutar, bison, groff, etc... ======================================================================== Alex Woo, MS 227-6 woo@ames.arc.nasa.gov NASA Ames Research Center __o NASAMAIL ACWOO Moffett Field, CA 94035-1000 -\<, SPANET 24582::WOO (415) 604-6010 (FAX) 604-4357 .....O/ O {hplabs, decwrl, uunet}!ames!woo ========================================================================
