I should just point out that Lamentations is in fact read on Tisha B'Av,
the fast of the 9th of Av, which commemorates the destruction of both 
Temples in Jerusalem.  Since Lamentations is all about the fall of Jerusalem
in 586 B.C.E., it is particularly appropriate for that day.
