[soc.religion.christian] There's a RULE or 2

jygabler@ucdavis.edu (Jason Gabler) (08/12/89)

Many moons ago I was greatly offended (believe it or not of all groups) in
comp.software-eng. Instead of humbling myself and taking a deep breath I
responded with a totaly inappropriate flame. There were to things I did wrong:
	1) I posted it at 3am ;)
	2) After reading the article I did not take a night to sleep on it,
which would have helped me put aside alot of defensive aggression.
	3) I took it as a personal flame.

I know in this group we try not to flame, and I belive that NONE OF US have
ever willingly done so. So before we start a new topic: think of how to post
in such a way that ASKS for other opinions and when you respond, remember that
the Holy Spirit didn't die and leave you in charge. If this poster you are
responding to is truly "wrong"... just plant a seed. God will take care of the
rest. Its the same as being a witness for Christ. You will NEVER save anyone.
You are only privilaged by God to help in His work. SO it is the same with
teaching God's principles with those who already are part of the Body of
Chirst. You can only say so much, only God will change hearts.

I am sure this is all old news for all of you, but sometimes we can get so
zealous to tell "Truth" we forget to Love as well.

Excellent advice! I couldn't resist the temptation to respond, causing
it to reappear. Please permit me to add a Scripture reference that I
just love. James 1:20 says "For the wrath of man worketh not the
righteousness of God.".

I would also like to add a true story that has to do with marriage, but
the lesson applies equally well to postings in this, or any other,
newsgroup. A Christian wife got a little disappointed with the man she
had married. She said that she used to say, "God, You love him and I'll
change him". This position did not yield any results whatsoever. She
eventually changed her mind and fervently declared, "Okay, God, I'll
love him and You change him.". Her marriage improved dramatically from
that point on.
