[soc.religion.christian] pledge of allegiance as prayer

is the pledge of allegiance a prayer? ...one God,indivisible...
it sure is!

[Unless my Spanish translation skills have decayed more than I think
they have (because we said the pledge only in Spanish class, I tend to
remember in it Spanish), it is "one nation, under God, indivisible".
Of course this is still a religious assertion, though perhaps wider in
the scope of religions it would consistent with. There are Christians
who have problems with it for other reasons: it seems to be part of
the tendency to turn patriotism into a civil religion, with the flag
as its holy icon. --clh]
