[soc.religion.christian] "Bible Alone" versus "Bible and Tradition"

miken@mirror.tmc.com (Mike Nappo ) (06/05/90)

In article <May.24.00.58.52.1990.21298@athos.rutgers.edu> mmh@cs.qmw.ac.uk (Matthew Huntbach) writes:
>If God had wanted His religion to be Bible-based, surely He
>would have had the book written out and presented, rather in
>the way Moslems got the Koran.
>
>The fact that Jesus did not write a book, but did found an
>organisation tends to suggest His religion was intended to be
>Church-based not Bible-based.
>
>Matthew Huntbach

I find this thought to be most interesting particularly
since I am a Catholic who is very much put off by the
narrow "where is the Biblical basis" view. Therefore,
I would like to carry this thread to a slight extreme:
can someone tell me the Biblical basis for the Bible itself?
I know that there is constant reference to holy scripture,
but where is it clearly identified and codified as such?
