[soc.religion.christian] Something to share

This past Friday evening I attended something called a "Prayer Concert."
It was one of the more incredible events in my life as a Christian.

We gathered in the Raleigh Civic Center. The Center seats 3600 people
and we had over 2000 Christians there from more local churches than I
could count--and almost as many denominations.

The concert started off with a group sing. Many old hymns and some new
songs. Then the praying got started. It was guided prayer in that we
were asked to pray for specific things. The whole evening started and
ended with praise to God.

It was quite an experience to see over 2000 Christians set aside
denominationalism and come to the Lord as the Body of Christ. And to
know that this many Christians were agreeing with one another in prayer
was awesome to consider. We prayed for the needs of the Church and the
world. And we did not argue over who was praying correctly. We did not
debate any doctrine at all. We came together in Christ to be obedient
to the Word.

I did not encounter anyone who refused fellowship because of
denomination--or any other man-made barrier. It really amazed me how
united we were on our knees. We came together not as Methodists,
Baptists, Pentecostals, Charismatics, Moravians, Lutherans, or whatever
denomination--but rather as Christians, bought and paid for by the
precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

Further, we heard about prayer groups all over the country and the world
that have begun to spring up. In LA for example, there are an on-going
series of prayer group meetings--125 to be exact--doing the same thing
that we did Friday night. Yet those groups are not related to the folks
that organized Friday's prayer meeting. And there are groups springing
up all the time. In Raleigh, NC, there is a group that meets monthly in
one of the Civic center rooms to pray.

Pray without ceasing,

Gene Gross

Yeah; I agree. THis past Sunday, I went to Vineyard night
service in Anaheim, for the first time. The place is like a
warehouse, and it seats about 3,000 people or so (in the _main_ room).
Anyway, there were at least 2,000 people there, and it was really
encouraging.

Yes; praise God. :-) Youngsters at a local church here (EFC
LA: Evangelical Formosan Church, Los Angeles) have reported starting
prayer groups in High schools and Junior highs, as well as Colleges.
Praise the Lord! I feel wonderful when I hear about the great things
He is doing in our lives and around us.
