[soc.religion.christian] Christmas thoughts

jeff@oak.circa.ufl.edu (Jeff Halley) (12/14/90)

Greetings!

I'm a Senior CIS-Eng. student at the University of Florida, and this semester
I've discovered how to access this newsgroup. I've greatly enjoyed perusing
the messages when I can. They range from the highly intellectual/theological
to the somewhat strange, even disturbing.

All this doctrinal discussion is well and good, and usually over my
head. However, in this season of the rememberance of the birth of
Christ, I'd like to exhort my fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord
to a practical expression of our love for Jesus Christ. For just a
moment, think of what it means to be a Christian. Think of your
salvation, and what we are called to do. How we are to be salt and
light to a dark and hurting world.

Think of what Christ did in his precious 3 years of ministry on this
earth, and consider how best you can imitate Him. I found out about a
church in my hometown of Va Beach, VA that is serving a meal on
Christmas day, and I plan on helping to serve. I say this not to my
glory, but to my shame for I've had many opportunities to help others
and just turned away.

Please share Christ's love this Christmas season. Christ told us that if we
wanted to be His disciples, we had to deny ourselves, take up our crosses and
follow Him. He spent His life serving others, even to the point of death on a
Roman cross for my sin-scarred life. He gave His life for us, now we give our
lives for Him.

All praise, glory and honor to my Lord Jesus Christ,
Who was and is and is to come!
