[soc.religion.christian] Catholic Video-Review: Nicholas, the boy who became Santa

kriz@skat.usc.edu (Dennis Kriz) (12/19/90)

Along the lines of the spate of postings on the upcoming Christmas.
It's too late to order it for this Christmas (though you can order
it anyway), but there is a group called Connection Communications Corp,
which has produced a series of Catholic children's animated cartoons.

One of them is called "Nicholas, the boy who became Santa" which gives
the life (based on historical fact and tradition) of St. Nicholas who
lived 1600 years ago at the time just before/during the reign of
Constantine. It ends with explaining how the tradition of Nicholas'
generocity has been passed down through the ages, and how St. Nicholas
has been transmuted into today's Santa Claus.

It ends in a way that you won't see it today ... with St. Nicholas as
Santa Claus kneeling in front of the baby Jesus lieing in the manger.

[I have omitted price and mailing address. It was looking a bit
too much like an ad. I will be happy to send it to anyone who
is interested if you send me direct email. --clh]

They also have video-cassettes (cartoons) on:

Francis, the Knight of Assisi (on the life of St. Francis)
Bernadette, the Princess of Lourdes (on the story of Lourdes)
The Day the Sun Danced (the true story of Fatima).

I have now seen all of them, and recommend all of them to this group.
Particularly, the Catholics with small children.
