[soc.religion.christian] Tradition and Fundamentalism

gen4001@husky1.stmarys.ca (01/23/91)

Tradition is not something foriegn to the word it is the day to day
living out of the intent of that word. It has been posted here that
scripture alone is the guide for the good heart but what of those who
opposed the Messiah with this attitude. Did not the Christ promote tradition
by his deeds as the "living" scripture. The day we put the Word on a page,
unalterable, is the day that the Word ceases to serve its function.
Base fundamentalism, nawing at the semantics and syntax of a foriegn
culture, has been the source of most of the popular disrepute that the Word
come to be percieved with in todays world.
Show us by deeds not by words...This was the intent of the message
that Messiah tried to leave us with when he said that those who come to him
crying Lord, Lord shall be turned away.
