Apud nos, quod non licet feminis, aeque non licet viris. Caesar's laws are one thing, Christ's another; Papinian makes one ruling, our Paul another. Among them, restraints on modesty are loosned for me, only rape and adultery are condemned; casual lust is permitted in brothels and with slave girls, as if sin were a matter of the woman's status, not of sensuality. Among us, what is forbidden women is equally forbidden men.
