[soc.religion.christian] French church groups call for curbs on future French arms sales

kriz@skat.usc.edu (Dennis Kriz) (02/28/91)

According to this week's "Tidings" [the Los Angeles Archdiocesan
newspaper], representatives from the French Catholic bishops'
conference, Pax Christi and the Social, Economic and International
Commission of the [French] Protestant Federation, issued a joint
communique calling for curbs on France's arms export business.

I don't want this to necessarily be debated on this newsgroup [I am
posting this to alt.desert-storm / talk.religion.misc also ...] but
I would like the readers of this group to know about it.

Personally, I'm very proud that the Christian groups took this stance,
because France's "Guns 'R Us" arms export policy arguably helped create
people like Saddam Hussein. And *somebody* had to finally come out
and authoratively say that. I'm glad the French church groups had the
guts to do this.

Let's pray the message is heard.
