I am interested in hearing from anybody that has heard of a group called the "Church of Christ Jesus". They appear to have originated out of Florida or Boston (at least that is where the group that started the church here seem to call home). I also believe there is a branch in Los Angeles. If you have encountered this group I have a few questions I need answered. I have some reason to believe that they have their beginnings in the Church of Christ movement so if anyone can answer these questions for the Church of Christ it may help as well. Are they Trinitarian? I have noticed that they have expunged Trinitarian references from their hymnody. I have asked them about this but have yet to get an answer other than "I need to check with someone else." or "I wouldn't worry about that if I were you." Neither of these answers actually answer the question. What is their stand on Christians outside their group? I have not been able to get them to admit that they believe you must be a member of their group to be redeemed but neither will they deny it. They certainly act like you must be a member to be a Christian in that they will continue to question your spiritual health until you join. What are their beliefs on baptism? I am fairly certain that they are full immersion but I have also run into one member that claims that no baptism = no redemption regardless of the reason (i.e. if you die on the way to the baptism you still go to hell). Do they do anything besides church growth? I have yet see or hear anything from them talk about anything other than new membership. No care for the poor, no congregational edification, no helping the sick, only evangelism. What do they believe about the place of works in redemption? They seem pretty oriented towards works righteousness. I have heard rumors that they are a "mobile church". They stay somewhere a year or so. Pack up and leave. Tell new church members that to serve God they must go with them. Anyone know if this is true? Thanks in advance, dex
