Whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die. John 11.26. Jesus came to give men life. Look through John's writings with this thought in mind. Whosoever believes may in Him have eternal life. He is the water of life and the bread of life, come to give us life "more abundantly." Moreover, because He was first willing to die, He is also to us the resurrection and the life. In a time of crisis and calamity it is life you cling to, becasue it is life that matters above all else. In the German air-raids on London the death and destruction seemed appaling. Where before had stood pleasant homes, now all at once there were only heaps of rubble. "Is anyone in them?" was the question in every mind. Suddenly one heap began to move. A beam was thrown aside, and a man scrambled out shaking off dust and broken tiles. He could do it, because he had life! It is by the life of Jesus that we live, a life that has been tested by death. "I am the living one ... I have the keys of death and Hades," He proclaims. It is safest to trust in a God who raises the dead. ----- Robert W.
