I know this topic can get a little bit out of hand but I thought that I would put in my two cent worth on this topic of Three Days and Three Nights in the center of the earth. Matt 12:40 "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three nights in the heart of the earth."(NIV) I have heard many of the arguements of Thursday death and ressurection sunday but not a wednesday day and sunday resurrection. I my studies of the words Day and night I found that Day can be the period of time when Goodness is and Darkness is evil. 2 Cor 6:14 "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what felowship can LIGHT have with DARKNESS?" Paul uses LIGHT as good and DARKNESS as evil. I am not surpised for God in Genesis 1:1-5 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, DARKNESS was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be LIGHT," and there was LIGHT. God saw that the LIGHT was GOOD, and he separated the LIGHT from the DARKNESS. God called the LIGHT "DAY," and the DARKNESS he called "NIGHT." And there was evening and there was morning-- the first day." I believe it is save to say that Light can stand for a Day and Darkness can stand for a Night. Remember this is the beginning of time and it was until the fourth day of creation that God created the sun and stars to mark of the days and nights and season. Gen 1:14-19 Ok with that line of thought could it be possible that Jesus was talking about is death when Darkness would reigns. And the resurection of the Light and evening and a morning making one spiritual day. Luke 22:53 Every day I [JESUS] was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour-WHEN DARKNESS REIGNS. (NIV) I know this sound like I am using scripture to prove a point but think about it every thing I have read on the topic and historical account says Friday evening and morning one day saturday evening and morning second day sunday tomb empty. I think it could be that the spiritual day of His death and resurrection could be the answer to the missing day. Well, there you have it I used the scriptures to prove my point but maybe I am in left field and sharing silly wishful thoughts to prove the mistery of the three days and three night. In His Hands, Joel Prov 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. (NIV) 1 Thes 5:21 Test everything. Hold on to the good. (NIV)
